MOIST CONDITIONS NIX ROCKFORD RACES

By: Tom Ace

With wet weather already making it’s presence known overnight and
throughout Saturday morning and  a Flash Flood Watch Issued for the
evening plus the likelihood of more rain to fall throughout the
afternoon and evening, Rockford Speedway officials have made the
decision to cancel the “Prelude to the Championship” originally
scheduled for Saturday night September 1st.

The cancellation washes out the final race of the T.E.D. Transit
Bandit points season, which gives the Saturday night Bandit
championship to Kelsey Dobbs. Dobbs bested Todd Snow by 12 points in the final tally while Ben Rucker finished a distant third.

The rain out also means there is just one more night of points racing
remaining in 2018, next Saturday night September 8, as part of Whelen Engineering’s ‘Night of Champions.’ The Stanley Steemer NASCAR Late Models, Bargain Hunter Sportsman, Miller Lite American Short Trackers and Kickstart Roadrunners will all crown their champions next Saturday night along with the Sam’s Drive In Roadrunner Challenge. Gates open at 5 PM with Racing set to start at 7:07 PM.
