Rockford, IL- Charlie Frisch, Laura Siarkiewicz and Chris Gantz were crowned as Rockford Speedway Champions during the final Wild Wednesday event Wednesday evening. Chargin’ Charlie backed up his 2007 Coca-Cola RoadRunner triumph with the RoadRunner Super Summer Series title as he won the feature event over last year’s titlist Gene Marocco. In a hard fought Winged Women on Wheels Championship, it came down to whomever won the final event and that is what Laura Siarkiewicz accomplished to finish just three markers ahead of Robin Ulrey in the final standings. Meanwhile, Chris Gantz recorded the Figure 8 Championship after finishing fourth to Jonathan Stoltz who is on leave from military duty in the final Figure 8 feature of the season.

Additional feature wins were recorded by current Crap Scrappers Hornet point leader Matt Mangiaracina, Rachel Pinkerman in the Legends, John Beinlich claimed another win in the Allison Legacy division while Nick Carnes pulled out the feature victory in the Bandolero class. Championships for the Legends, Allison Legacy and Bandolero divisions will be decided on Saturday night August 30th while the Hornet Championship will be on the line during the Budweiser

Night of Thrills Saturday September 13.

It will be a busy day at Rockford Speedway this Saturday, August 16 as the 3rd annual O’Reilly Auto Parts Car Show is taking place from 10am until 4pm; nearly 200 Classic, Muscle and various other show cars will be on display. The Rock River Valley Blood Center will also be conducting the NASCAR Foundation Blood and Marrow Drive beginning at noon, numerous prizes will be awarded to donors throughout the day.

Racing action highlights the day’s festivities as the NASCAR Stanley Steemer Late Models, Bargain Hunter Sportsman, Budweiser American Short Trackers, Coca-Cola RoadRunners will all be in action, the Sam’s Drive-In RoadRunner Challenge this week is the Race for the Whitehouse. For the first time ever, the Illinois Vintage Racing Association will be competing on the highbanks of Rockford Speedway, cars include Bill Knippenberg’s 1964 Chevelle which is a Joe Shear original piece th! at found victory at Rockford plus a replica of Dick Trickle’s 1970 Mustang that he wheeled to the National Short Track Championship, all counted over 10 vintage racers are expected Saturday night in addition to the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series action. Gates open at 5:00, qualifying is at 5:45 with the first race at 7:07.
