SATURDAY 12:30PM Update
A little over 180 cars are on hand for the 17th Annual Bahama Bracket Nationals at the Rockford Speedway. At least five states are represented over the two day event.
Every car will take two laps in qualifying to establish their time for the weekend. After everyone qualifies, anyone may come out to better their time during the Happy Half Hour qualifying. The goal is not to go over the breakout time of 14.300 seconds.
After qualifying, all cars will be placed in their respective brackets and we will go racing at 6:00pm.
What makes this event so unique is that in any bracket you could see a Mid-American car race alongside a modified or a hobby stock or a sportsmen or even a car built for a dirt track.
Tonight, starting at 6:00pm, will be the qualifying races for all of the brackets. On Sunday, starting at noon, will be last chance races, the Fabulous Foo Foo Races and the feature events.
The winner of each of the bracket features will have a tough decision to make...either they take the cash being offered for the division win or a trip for two to the Bahamas.
In the past 16 editions, only two drivers have taken the trip. Eddie Hoffman took the trip at the first running of the brackets and Darrell Gay took it in 2006.
Stay tuned for updates from the Bahamas!!!
