Loves Park, IL (Monday, April 6, 2009) – The 62nd season of racing at the famed Rockford Speedway gets underway Saturday, April 11, with the WXRX 104.9FM Stone & Double T 200 lap enduro. Well over 60 cars are expected to jam the high-banked quarter-mile surface, all for the chance to take home the first checkered flag of the year.

“What better way to start a new year than with a little beating and banging to wake everyone up from their winter slump?” stated Speedway Operations Manager David Deery. “With the use of the Monza course for the second half of the event, there is sure to be a lot of great action as they dive through the back legs of the infield and back onto the track.” A beauty contest, featuring the best dressed enduro cars will take place at 2:45 p.m with the green flag waving on the 200 lap mayley at 3p.m. General admission tickets are only $10.00 for adults and $5.00 for ages 6-11. All kids ages 5 and under are free.

Earlier in the day there will be an open practice for all non-enduro divisions beginning at 11 a.m. and ending at 2:30 p.m. Eighty plus teams will partake in the first laps of the season, many drivers attempting to dial their machines in for the 32nd annual Spring Classic, which will take place on Sunday afternoon, April 19th. The BRP Big 8 Series presented by Gandrud Chevrolet will be competing in their season-opener, the SPYDER 108, while the Mid-American Stock Car Series battle wheel to wheel in a 50 lap feature. Racing gets underway at 1 p.m. with qualifying at 11:15 a.m.
