LOVES PARK, IL (Wednesday, July 22, 2009) – “Chargin” Charlie Frisch has begun to demonstrate why he has his nickname, as Frisch made another late race charge to the win, passing Joe LaMarca for the lead with three laps remaining in the Mtn Dew RoadRunner Super Summer Series 25-lap main event and holding off LaMarca’s last gasp effort for the win. Vinny Mangiaracina made a move in the late stages of the 15-lap Crap Scrappers Hornets swarm to get past Jake Vicencio and grab the victory. Rachael Pinkerman, Dwight Dunlap, Tom Schneider, Cory Cootware and Olivia Chance also collected feature victories on the evening.
Charlie Frisch started in the back and charged to the front for the second week in a row, moving into the lead with just three circuits to go using the inside line to dart past Joe LaMarca for the win.
Frisch had to work his way past Ricky Nielsen into second as the two battled for several laps until Frisch finally made the move stick exiting turn two. Frisch started in the back and was forced to pick his way through the field slowly but surely, making his way into the top five with 13 laps left.
Nielsen, Gene Marocco and Jason Brockway rounded out the top five.
Vinny Mangiaracina was out front for most of the 15-lap Crap Scrappers Hornets swarm before Jake Vicencio took the top spot away. However, when the caution flew with three laps to go, Mangiaracina took advantage of his second chance, making the inside the place to be as he worked his way around Vicencio for the victory.
Mangiaracina also held off a late move by Steve McBride who came home second. The rest of the top five featured Vicencio, Solomon Barker and Randy Reynolds.
Rachael Pinkerman made it two in a row claiming victory in the INEX Legends 15-lap headliner over teammate Bobby Yonke. Yonke challenged Pinkerman for the lead over the final five circuits but his last gasp effort on the last lap proved fruitless as Pinkerman celebrated again in victory lane.
Johnny Magnuson Jr., Tim Narr and Kyle Jusits completed the top five.
Dwight Dunlap continued his dominance at the Rockford Speedway in 2009 grabbing his fifth feature win of the season in the Allison Legacy division in convincing fashion, beating Brian Heaberlin for the trophy.
Cory Cootware, pulling double duty again, topped the field in the 12-lap INEX Bandoleros main event, pulling away after a late-race caution for the feature win.
Morgan Melichar, Paul Fusco, Jimmy Wessel and Joshua James finished off the top five.
Olivia Chance rolled the dice on the low line in the Stateline Staffing Services Winged Women on Wheels 12-lap feature and turned up aces with her first feature win of the season.
Robin Ulrey, Felisha Morgan, Chandale Swartout and Allison Nichol completed the top five.
In the National Figure 8 League 10-lap shootout, it was Tom Schneider claiming the top spot as he kept his record unblemished with his fifth win in five races for the division.
Dennis Smith Jr, Jeff Allendorf and Michael Neblock finished off the field.
