Loves Park, IL-Race fans should mark Sunday afternoon April 18, on their 2010 calendars. Rockford Speedway will play host to both the BRP Big 8 Series presented by Gandrud Chevrolet Late Models and Mid-American Stock Car Series during the 33rd annual Spring Classic on that day, bringing the Midwestern Short Track Community from hibernation to fascination.
The traditional event features two of the Midwest’s top tours, pitting man and machine against one another as well as the famed high banked quarter mile oval bull ring. Track champions from across the Midwest are expected to battle the top challengers of the day in order to add their name alongside the likes of short track pioneers such as Trickle, Reffner, Shear, Carlson and Schill.
“It is exciting to get the race season going not only at Rockford, but in the Midwest.” Commented Rockford Speedway President Jody Deery. “Our fans will be treated to the excitement short track racing provides and these two groups definitely provide some excitement.” The Big 8 Series Late Models will utilize a progressive racing format for the first time in Series history, culminating in a 58 lap main event while the Mid-American Stock Cars will contest a 50 lap feature event as well as preliminary events.
Complete details including a weekend schedule of events and pricing will be released in the coming weeks. For more information contact the Speedway Box Office at 815-633-1500 or visit www.rockfordspeedway.com.
