NASCAR RE/MAX event named "Mobil Speedpass 300"!

September 3, 1998; Rockford, IL - The 300-lap RE/MAX Challenge Series race, the main event of the 33rd Annual Winston National Short Track Championships at Rockford Speedway, has been named the "Mobil Speedpass 300"

Agreement was reached Monday, August 31st, between Rockford Speedway, R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. and Kelley Williamson Mobil on Kelly-Williamson's sponsorship of the September 27th race, the feature race of the annual three-day (Friday, Saturday and Sunday, September 25, 26, 27) post-season stock car racing special.

Michael Clifford of Kelley-Williamson Mobil, Faith Decker of RJR's Sports Marketing Enterprises, and Rockford Speedway President John G. "Jack" Deery put together the final contract.

Coca-Cola rep Mark Wilson was a part of the proceedings. With 12-pack purchases of Coca-Cola products at Kelley-Williamson establishments in the greater Rockford area, Coca-Cola will be offering coupons worth two dollars off ticket admission prices to the 33rd annual Winston National Short Track Championships.

The 50-lap Mid-American Stock Car Racing Series main event has been named the "Bud Light 50". A long-time supporter of the NASCAR Racing Series action at Rockford Speedway, Budweiser sponsors the lucrative BUD Big Six Series and the upcoming Budweiser Night-of-Champions, the final points event of the season for the top NASCAR divisions.
