Rockford Speedway’s Wreck of the Week

Loves Park, IL (September 1, 2010) A series of unfortunate events ended Kyle Shear’s night early this past Saturday. Shear was in the midst of a strong comeback after some midseason problems plagued the young driver. Last week he narrowly avoided the on track mayhem at the checkered flag and bagged his second consecutive second place finish.

The troubles started early in the Stanley Steemer NASCAR Late Model Feature, as Jacob Gille tried to pass Ryan Carlson on the inside, Gille got loose going into turn one, pushing both himself and Carlson up the track. Shear had nowhere to go but into the rear of both cars, as he tried to turn down the track to avoid further front end damage, but found Brandon Eash on the inside. Eash another victim of circumstance had nowhere to go, both he and Shear found themselves dead in the water on the backstretch. Eash and Shear both sustained significant damage to their machines, neither driver was able to return to the track. Gille went on to finish tenth, while Carlson finished sixth.
