Budweiser Night of Thrills at Rockford Speedway

Loves Park, IL(September 13, 2010) Rockford Speedway while known for its traditional short track racing is also quite skilled at putting on non-racing shows. This Saturday’s events are sure to entertain people of all ages, with some unconventional forms of entertainment. Things that should never be done to cars will be done, they’ll be flipped, crashed and burned. Spectators will have a chance to race on the historic high banks during the Spectacular drags.

Doug Rose and the Green Mamba Jet Car will be making a return to Rockford this Saturday, along with the Monster Truck State Finals (with free truck rides for kids 11 and under from 5pm-6:30), The Felon vs Incinerator, Limo Steel Wall Crash, Spec Drags, the Outhouse Race, Smokey Burnout Contest, Skid Cars, Jumpin’ Jack Crash, a Roll Over Contest and the Gaunlet, plus the Crap Scrapper Hornets Champion will be decided.

Rose wowed the crowds back in July with a spectacular performance; he attached a van to back of his Jet Car and burnt it to a crisp. Rose started driving Jet Cars in 1962, his career and life nearly ended in 1966 with a near fatal wreck. He lost both legs, but got back on the horse or Jet Car, and built the Green Mamba, which is powered by a J46 jet engine out of a Navy F7U Cutlass Fighter Plane which burns a whopping 37 Gallons of jet fuel a minute and has a top speed of over 300 miles per hour.

Reserved adult admission is $18, reserved kids admission for those 11 and under is $9, general adult admission is $15 and general kids admission for those 11 and under is $5.
