Special; Rockford, IL - It's fall and time for the 'grandfather" of all post-season stock car racing specials, the 33rd Anniversary Winston National Short Track Championships at Rockford Speedway.
The NASCAR RE/MAX Challenge Series "stars and cars", Mid-American Stock Cars, NASCAR Winston Racing Series late-models, American Race Trucks and seven other divisions of cars will provide the racing action, Thursday through Sunday, September 24th - 27th.
Everything kicks off Thursday Night, September 24th, with an open practice for all divisions. Admission to the grandstand is FREE and there will be a Western Chili Feed with FREE chili for all ticket holders.
Another practice sessions for all divisions starts at 10:00 a.m. Friday morning. Qualifying for all seven divisions racing that night will get started at 4:30 p.m. Those racing Friday night are the NASCAR Grand National Sportsmen, NASCAR American Short Trackers, "Area" Sportsmen, NASCAR Roadrunners, Winged Women-On-Wheels, Jammin' Slammers and Short Track Super Sport Trucks. The first race will get the green flag at 7:15 p.m.
Saturday morning will open with tech inspection and a final practice session for NASCAR RE/MAX Challenge Series cars, Mid-American Stock Cars, NASCAR Winston Racing Series Late Models, and American Race Trucks. These four divisions will begin their qualification runs at 3:00 p.m. Racing gets underway at 6:30 p.m. with qualification races for the RE/MAX and Mid-American cars who did not make Sunday's field in time trials.
These races will be followed by the evening's two main events, the 22nd Annual NASCAR Winston Racing Series late-model "McLeod USA Publishing NASCAR Thunder 200" and the debut "GMC 50" for the American Race Trucks.
The big day, Sunday, September 27th. At 10:10 a.m. all the cars and drivers will be on the track for a Fan Photo and Autograph sessions. Pre-race ceremonies will start at NOON and then, at one o' clock, the green flag will be unfurled for the weekend's two main events, the NASCAR RE/MAX Challenge Series "Mobil Speedpass 300", and the Mid-American Stock Cars "Bud Light 50".

Special; Rockford, IL - The 2nd Annual Little Car National Short Track Championships at Rockford Speedway which will be held the 3rd and 4th of October, will feature nine different types or classes of the popular 'little cars' on Rockford Speedway famed high-banked quarter-mile oval.
For some it will decide not only their season championships, but national championships as well. One such series will be the Miniature Motorsports Racing Association. Better known as MMRA Super Cup cars, these half-scale Winston Cup type cars with 389 cc Honda GX390 powerplants race at over a hundred tracks in 30 states. Their national champion is decided via the MMRA Open Division National Championship Series. It is a seven race series ran at tracks in Florida, Georgia, Ohio, Virginia, and culminates at Rockford (Illinois) Speedway.
The national championship race is down to Brian Creasy of Evington, VA and Dennis Saville of Goode, VA. Only seven points separate the pair and they will both be at Rockford in October. Both race for Bob Leftwich's Allied Motorsports team out of Lynchburg, Virginia. Another allied driver Steve Johnson of Forest, VA will also be making the trip to the Rockford Speedway quarter-mile track.
The 2nd Annual Little Car Nationals will also host the INEX Legends Cars Short Track Championships.
Along with the INEX Legends and the MMRA Super Cup cars, the two-day racing special will also see the FIRA Indy Cars, Dwarf Cars, 440 Modifieds, Junior Motorsports, Legacy Cars, Rascal Outlaws and the Baby Grand Stocks.
