LOVES PARK, IL (Saturday, May 31, 2008) - A great crowd was on hand to witness some of the best racing from all four divisions and a return appearance from the Devastator Monster Truck. At the end of the night, it was Ryan Carlson, Dave Edwards, George Sparkman and Terrance Robinson taking home feature wins.

A field of 21 cars took the green flag for the 40-lap feature event with Noel Ramge taking the early lead. Polesitter Mike Beyer got past Ramge for the lead on lap 7.

The race was red flagged on lap 6 when Tim Sargent spun going into turn one. Justin Wagner had nowhere to go and hit Sargent head on. Both were done for the night. As the field resumed under yellow, Ricky Bilderback went to the pits with a flat right rear tire. He would return at the rear of the field.

Carlson started eighth and worked his way to the front by lap 23 as he worked the inside line to get past Bill Hobson for second. He continued his momentum as he then challenged Beyer for the lead a lap later.

The two battled side-by-side until Carlson took command of the race with 11 laps to go. He would pull away to his second feature win of the season. Beyer would hold off a late challenge from Bob Kahler to hold on to second. Steve Rubeck was fourth with current point leader, Jerry Gille, rounding out the top five.

Edwards won a great All-American Sportsman feature event that had the fans on the edge of their seats.

Ron Morris and Edwards battled side-by-side for the lead from lap 7 until lap 23 while Brock Behnke and Fred Nason were side-by-side behind them causing a four car battle for the lead.

With two laps to go, Morris got by Edwards to take the lead with Behnke right behind him. It was a two-car battle for the win on the last lap as Behnke tried to get on the inside of Morris. The two touched in turn three causing Morris to spin. Edwards was in the right place at the right time as he would go past the two and take the win.

Don Exline came home second with Behnke coming across in third. Nason was fourth with Ron Young rounding out the top five.

George Sparkman took home his second feature win of the season in the Budweiser American Short Tracker feature.

It was a wild 25-lap feature event as Sparkman held off Tim Melvin for the win. The race was slowed three times for cautions; the worse came on lap 11 when Aaron Rude got together with Jeff Tenure on the front stretch causing Rude to hit the wall head on. He was alright but was done for the night.

Tenure was the early leader in the feature event but Sparkman got on the inside of him on lap 3 and raced side-by-side until he took over the top spot a lap later.

It was a three car battle to the finish as Sparkman held off Melvin and Nick Cina Jr. for the win. Jason Evans was fourth and Brett McCoy rounded out the top five.

Robinson captured another feature win in the Coca-Cola RoadRunner division

It was Raymond Hardesty taking the early lead in the 20-lap feature event. But his lead didn’t last for long as Robinson passed Sam Christofano for second and two laps later got on the inside of Hardesty for the lead.

Robinson would get a good bite coming off of turn four and pull away from Hardesty to his second feature win of the season. Gene Marocco was second with Christofano in third. David Lignell was fourth with current point leader Robert Roush rounding out the top five.

Fans had the opportunity to see an exhibition from the Devastator Monster Truck and an opportunity to ride the General Hazzard Monster Truck.

Next Saturday night, Kar Korner presents the World Famous Trailer Race along with NASCAR Whelen All-American Series action. The Stanley Steemer NASCAR Late Models, All-American Sportsman, Budweiser American Short Trackers, and Coca-Cola RoadRunners will be racing next Saturday night. The evening of fun will get underway at 7:07 pm.
