Curtis Nighswonger was quickest to pull the trigger in the RoadRunner Super Summer Series feature event but would lose the handle on the top spot to Ken Brazee five laps into the Equipment Depot 25 and quickly fade. Brian Mayer held second for a moment until Robert Roush hustled on the low line into second and then into first on lap eight. At halfway Terrance Robinson had captured second with Alex Papini following into third before an Adam Cartwright and Mayer incident brought out the caution. Roush took command once again and never looked back on his way to victory number two on the season. Terrance Robinson held off a determined Papini for second, Gene Marocco fought his way to fourth and Arlyn Roush ended the night in the fifth position in front of a large Wild Wednesday crowd.
In the first of two Bandit features, Jacob Aldrich jumped to the early lead in the twenty lap affair. Trevor Robinson quickly moved into the second spot only to relinquish the runner up spot just a lap later to Chris Jones. Robin Ulrey and Terry Ciano were quick to pull to Robinson’s tail. Past halfway Tim Dickson hustled into the top five as he and Ciano worked past Ulrey. Aldrich cruised to the victory over Jones, Robinson and Dickson who squeezed past Ciano on the final circuit to claim fourth. Chad Misslich would officially be scored in fifth.
Later in the evening, sixteen Bandits answered the call for feature two and it was Ryan Nelson taking the top spot from Justin Pearson. Nelson quickly had his hands full with Chris Jones and Chad Misslich. Terry Ciano, Tim Dickson and Jacob Aldrich jockeyed for position within the top five with Trevor Robinson. Fast qualifier Dickson was pointed in the wrong direction after his machine and that of Jones made contact on the backstretch bringing out the first caution flag. Nelson had Misslich and Aldrich in tow when the green flag was displayed but Misslich grabbed the top spot a lap later. Ciano and Aldrich went wheel to wheel for third for seven laps with Aldrich having the upper hand each lap. The Missile Chad Misslich was too much to handle, picking up the win over Nelson, Ciano snuck past Aldrich for third and Pearson posted a strong showing in fifth. The Nelson and Ciano machines did not pass post-race inspection moving Ulrey and Dickson into the top five.
Lloyd Hawkins appeared to be on his way to Figure 8 feature win number one of 2012 during the opening event, but it was not to be as defending Champion Dennis Smith, Jr worked his way around Jim Daugherty and then Hawkins with two laps to go. Smith passed beneath the checkered flag first followed by Daugherty, Derek Dobbs, Hawkins and Jonathan Stoltz.
Josh Thiering dove inside Jonathan Stoltz to take the top spot in the Figure 8’s second appearance of the evening. Derek Dobbs used every inch of the track to try to catch Thiering while holding Dennis Smith, Jr at bay. Dobbs and Thiering made contact sending Thiering into a wild spin and placing Dobbs out front. Dennis Smith, Jr made a daring pass on the final turn to inch ahead of Dobbs for the win. Dougherty claimed third followed by Hawkins and Thiering.
A dozen brave Winged Women on Wheels took to the high banks and it was Jocelyn Davenport and Tabatha Bennett at the head of the field for the opening laps until a blown motor brought out the first caution. When the field was restacked, Davenport had no issue regaining position one, but a miscue between Bennett and Tracy Wallin in turn one saw both machines make contact with the wall. This moved Stacy Roach into the second spot when the green flag waved again but she was unable to reel Davenport in while holding off a hard charging Wallin over the final two laps. The top five finishers were Davenport, Roach, Wallin, Chandale Swartwout and Destiny Robinson.
Tyler Deschaine wasted no time getting to the front on the Misfit field, making a daring three wide dive on the opening lap but by halfway he had his hands full with Vernon Brown. Brown fell victim to mechanical woes handing the second position to Tim Roach. Cory Cootware was third claiming the fendered car win as he was closely pursued by Dwight Dunlap.
