Rockford Speedway has released the entry forms for their year end specials including the 47th annual National Short Track Championships which will take place September 28-30. Over twelve divisions will be in action including the return on Super Late Models and their Economic Stimulus Package to this historic event. Friday night marks the Championship Round of the Gilley’s Cool 5 Series with the Weekly Warrior Late Models, All-American Sportsman, American Short Trackers, RoadRunners plus Figure 8 action and the Hornet/Bandit Challenge with new bonuses for Hornets and Winged Women on Wheels. Saturday will showcase the Big 8 Late Model Series in a 108 lap feature event, Super Late Model preliminaries, Area Sportsman, Illini Midgets, the return of the Hobby Stox division to NSTC and the Illinois Vintage Racing Series. A 200 lap contest awaits the Super Late Models on Sunday afternoon as they are joined by the Mid-American Stock Cars and Gerber Collision Challenge Shootout for the Weekly Late Models.
The ever popular Bahama Bracket Nationals takes center stage October 13-14, the winner of each bracket has the choice of the prize money or a trip for two to the Bahamas. After qualifying is complete on Saturday, all cars are split into brackets with cars of like speed, not necessarily racing division. This provides what many argue is the fiercest action you will see anywhere. 50 Lap Features on Sunday Afternoon along with the Fabulous Foo Foo Race give racers more opportunity to race and have fun than some tracks do in a season.
The final event of Rockford Speedway’s 65th season will take place on Sunday afternoon October 21 when over one-hundred cars battle on the big high banks in the Goblin 250. The enduro event will be run on the oval for the first half before the remaining cars are turned loose on the Monza Course.
Entry forms for all three of these staples of Short Track Auto Racing are now available online at www.rockfordspeedway.com. Simply go to the Schedule page to link to the desired entry form.
