Tractor Town Kid’s Night
The first ‘Kid’s Night’ of 2013 takes place this Saturday night at Rockford Speedway. All children ages 11 and under will be admitted free of charge with the first one thousand kids receiving a free Pepsi Racing Poster. Added to that, Tractor Town will be providing Tractor rides for kids throughout the evening. Then, before the evening’s feature races, all kids will be invited on track for the Nationwide Insurance Candy Scramble. This week’s racing card includes the Stanley Steemer NASCAR Late Models, Bargain Hunter Sportsman, Rockstar Energy Drink RoadRunners and Sam’s Drive-In Stop ‘N Go Race. And for the first time in several years, the Allison Legacy cars will be featured under the “Saturday Night Lights.” Spectator gates open at 5pm, qualifying at 5:55pm with the first race at 7:07pm. Adult general admission tickets are $12, students ages 12-17 are $8, and ages 11 and under are admitted free.
‘THE CHAMP’ CHALLENGES AGAIN
After a rough opening week and a slow start last Saturday night, three-time and defending Rockford Speedway Late Model track champion Jerry Gille topped the competition and was the big winner in the Stanley Steemer NASCAR Late Model 30 lap feature event. Gille held on for the win despite a late race push by Steve Rubeck, who was side-by-side with the eventual winner at the white flag. Despite the win, Gille still has work to do, sitting fourth in the current point standings, behind Opening Night winner Alex Papini, ‘Driver X’ Jon Reynolds Jr and last week’s runner up Rubeck.
SPORTSMAN RETURN, ALLISON LEGACY’S BACK ON SATURDAY NIGHT
After a week away from the track, the always exciting Bargain Hunter Sportsman return to Rockford Speedway. Brett McCoy was the Opening Night winner in the division, holding off the charge of defending track champion Doug Bennett. Bennett escaped Opening Night as the points leader, but the list of challengers this season is long and distinguished. This Saturday night will also feature the Allison Legacy cars, making their first Saturday night appearance in several years. A unique mix of Allison Legacy drivers look to challenge the high banks this Saturday night.
