The time has come for that often imitated, never duplicated rolling demo derby known as the Kar Korner ‘Original Trailer Race of Destruction”! A tradition nearly 30 years strong, Rockford Speedway Trailer Races are an event unlike any other. The event is comprised of cars, trucks and vans pulling boats, campers and travel trailers. Destruction is the name of the game and the Trailer Race won’t end until ‘the last trailer trails.’ The event has been witnessed by hundreds of thousands of fans in person and has been featured on national television! Tickets are still available, and you’ll want to order your seats in advance to avoid the long lines on race night. Reserve your tickets now by calling the Speedway Box Office at 815-633-1500 or by ordering online at www.rockfordspeedway.com.
THE RETURN OF THE ‘SATURDAY NIGHT SUPER SHOW’
This Saturday night also includes another ‘Saturday Night Super Show,’ featuring all four of Rockford Speedway’s premier divisions. You’ll see the Stanley Steemer NASCAR Late Models, where last week ‘Driver X’ Jon Reynolds Jr. captured his first feature win of the season, besting point leader Alex Papini in a caution free 30 lap main event. After a week off, the Bargain Hunter Sportsman division is back. Brett McCoy and Matt Lundberg have won two features apiece in the division and are separated by just one point at the top of the standings. The Miller Lite American Short Trackers are back after a week off as well and so is Nick Cina Jr. Not only has Cina been fast qualifier every night he’s raced, he has also captured three feature wins. And of course, the Rockstar Energy Drink Roadrunners will be in action on Saturday night. Woodstock’s Arlyn Roush will be looking for a fourth Roadrunner feature win this Saturday, but current point leader Terrance Robinson and two-time feature winner Dennis Smith Jr. will be looking to get past Roush and get back into victory lane.
WILD WEDNESDAY OPENER…TAKE TWO
With the severe weather our area endured June 12th, Speedway officials were forced to cancel what was to be the first ‘Wild Wednesday’ of 2013. That means the opening Wednesday night of the season will be this June 19th. This “Wild Wednesday” Night is ‘Special Needs Night’, and of course will feature all sorts of action on track. The racing lineup includes the Roadrunner Super Summer Series, Bandits, Misfits and Winged Women on Wheels. Also, new to the Wednesday lineup this season are the Super Cup cars. Wednesday night staples like the Wild and Crazy Figure 8 race and One-on-One Spectacular Drags also return. Spectator gates open at 5:30 pm on Wednesday nights, with the first green flag at 7:07 pm. Adult admission is just $9 on Wild Wednesdays and each Wednesday night is also a Dollar Beer Night!
