The 33rd Annual Goblin 250 enduro featuring 4 cylinder vehicles will take place Sunday afternoon October 20th and will wrap up the Speedway’s 66th consecutive season of operations.
The 22nd Annual Bahama Bracket Nationals will include a new wrinkle this season, as for the first time in the history of the event, AMB Transponder Scoring will be utilized for all cars competing. The festivities kick off on Friday October 11th, as pit gates will open to competitors at 1 PM. A ‘Test and Tune’ will be held starting at 5 pm Friday evening, with Open Time Trials allowed starting at 8:30 pm. The Twisted Tea Beach Party closes the first night at 9:30 pm. Saturday includes morning practice and qualifying at 12:30 pm. ‘Happy Half Hour’ Qualifying will immediately follow and continue until 5:15 pm. Racing begins Saturday at 6 pm and features Heat Races and Bermuda Bashes. Post-race Saturday night includes the Miller Lite ‘Last Blast’ Race Party and the popular ‘Sing For Your Start,’ where one driver in each Bracket can gain entry to their 50 lap feature by simply ‘hitting all the right notes.’ Racing begins at Noon on Sunday and includes Last Chance racing as well as the 50 lap championship features. All non-qualifiers will also take part in the ‘Fabulous Foo Foo Races’ for Fun & Prizes.
Each of the six Bracket winners will have their choice between their first place winnings OR a trip for two (2) to the Bahamas, with the big decision being made in victory lane. There are many chances for drivers and teams to win bonuses and awards during Bahama Bracket weekend, including $100 bonuses for: Perfect Qualifying Time (14.300/15.600), any Truck to win a bracket, any Modified to win a bracket, any Dirt Car to win a bracket, any woman to win a bracket. The team who travels the farthest, along with the best themed car, crew and pit area will also be eligible for a $100 bonus. If any two drivers from the same track win multiple brackets, they will split a $250 bonus. And the track with the most total Bahama Bracket entries will receive 100 ‘Bahama Beverage Bucks’ from Miller Coors and Pepsi Cola. The ‘Home Track’ Award will be awarded Saturday night during the Last Blast Race Party.
The 2013 season then comes to a close on Sunday October 20th with the 33rd edition of the Goblin 250 enduro. The Goblin is open to any 4 cylinder car or station wagon with a complete stock body, frame and suspension. Pit gates will open at 9 am, with the Goblin 250 taking the green at 1 pm. The first 125 laps of the 250 will be run on the oval track, while the final 125 laps will be run on the tricky Monza course. ‘Goblin Sunday’ also includes the ever-popular Kids Costume Contest at 12:40 pm and the ‘Best Decorated Car’ contest at 12:50 pm. After the Goblin 250, the “Big Swarm” and “Reckless in Rockford” Demo Derbies take to the track, ending the 2013 season with a ‘bang.’
