LOVES PARK, IL (Saturday, July 12, 2008) – It was a packed house at Rockford Speedway this Saturday night as Bobcat of Rockford presented the annual Mid-Summer’s Night Scream. The Green Mamba Jet Car and the Felon Monster Truck were the headline entertainment on a night of fun and wild action.

The Crap Scrapper Hornets were also in action on Saturday night as Bryan Ellis held off Matt Mangiaracina to win his first feature win.

Ellis inherited the lead when early leader Mark Vicencio fell out with mechanical problems. There was a caution for a wheel that came off of one of the hornets with four laps to go.

Ellis would first hold off a challenge from Alan Bekielewski then Mangiaracina got past Bekielewski for second and set his sites on Ellis. But, Ellis would end Mangiaracina’s streak of feature wins by getting his first win.

Solomon Barker would get past Bekielewski for third on the last lap. Andy Hill rounded out the top five.

The fans got to witness the Green Mamba burn a car to the ground and put on a great fire show around the Rockford Speedway. The Felon monster truck also made its return and got the fans on its feet with his power wheelie that he did from turn three all the way over to turn one on the infield. He also got the crowd excited with its car crushing action.

The Race ‘Em RC Car Exhibition made its debut with their high flying remote control car. One of the cars even jumped over the five cars that the Felon monster truck crushed later in the evening.

There was also some wild racing with Chris “Caterpillar” Miller and T.J. Miller won the Figure 8 Trailer Race, while Todd Aldrich won the Skid Car race.

Craig Schmuggerow was the winner of the Smoky Burnout competition while Brian Hall won the Rollover contest.

It was Team USA vs. Team Mexico in the World Auto Soccer action. Team Mexico would get on the scoreboard right away with an early goal. They would score again at the two minute mark to take a 2-0 lead.

Team USA would quickly respond with a goal at the 2:10 mark making it 2-1. But Team Mexico responded at that 3:30 mark with another goal. And they would score again as the buzzer sounded to take a 4-1 win.

Racing action continues with another Wild Wednesday night. The racing action will get underway at 7:07 pm with the RoadRunner Super Summer Series, Stateline Staffing Service Winged Women on Wheels, Crap Scrapper Hornets, Figure 8’s, Spectacular Drags, Legends, Bandoleros, and Allison Legacy cars.
