“CHARGIN” CHARLIE FRISCH TAKES WILD WEDNESDAY FEATURE AT ROCKFORD

By: Kevin Ramsell
LOVES PARK, IL (Wednesday, July 16, 2008) – Charlie Frisch took home the RoadRunner Super Summer Feature win at Rockford Speedway’s Wild Wednesday racing action. Alan Bekielewski, Olivia Chance, Maxx McNamara, and Chris Gantz also took home feature wins on Sam’s Club Night at the races.

Frisch jumped out to the lead over Vachenzia Jester as the green flag dropped for the 25-lap feature event. The best battle in the early going was for second between Jester and Gene Marocco. Jester would hold off Marocco until lap 8 when Marocco would get on the inside of her to challenge for the position. This allowed Frisch to check out from the rest of the field.

Marocco would take over second on lap 10 while Jester had to battle with Ricky Nielsen for third. The caution would fly on lap 15 when Richard Nielsen fell off the pace with mechanical problems. This allowed Marocco to catch up to the rear bumper of Frisch with Jester alongside for the double file re-start where Frisch would re-start in front by himself.

On the re-start, Marocco got the jump on Jester but Frisch would pull away to a five car length lead. The caution would fly on lap 20 when Tom Flippo and Jester got together in turns one and two causing them to hit the wall. Jester would continue while Flippo went into the pits.

Ricky Nielsen would get past Marocco for second on the re-start and set his sights on Frisch with five laps to go. But, he would not get close to the back bumper as Frisch would take home the win with Frisch in second. Marocco would hold off Alex Papini for third. Mike Swanson was fifth.

Bekielewski held off a late charge to take home the Crap Scrappers Hornet feature win.

Mark Vicencio was the early leader in the 15-lap feature event and appeared to be on his way to an easy win until he blew a tire on lap 9. This handed the lead over to Bekielewski.

Bekielewski would hold off a late charge from Solomon Barker to take home the win. Matt Mangiaracina was third.

Chance would take home the Stateline Staffing Service Winged Women on Wheels feature event.

Chance would jump to the lead at the green flag and never look back in the caution free race. Sarah Trank was second with Laura Siarkiewicz had a great battle for second with Trank getting the runner-up spot.

McNamara easily took home another feature win in the INEX Legends. McNamara started shotgun on the field and was up to second after the first lap. Two laps later, he would get by early leader Brandon Heisler and broke away from the rest of the field.

He would take home another checkered flag with Matt Booker in second and Tom Palma in third.

Chris Gantz took advantage of Tom Schneider’s mistake to win another Figure 8 feature. Schneider was leading when they came off of turn two and bobbled while heading to the “X”. This allowed Gantz to get by Schneider to go on to the win. Schneider was second with Sabrina Castillo in third.

Sam’s Club associates had a special race in the Drevdahl Auto Body Track Cars and then presented over $8,000 to Rockford area charities.

The racing action continues this Saturday night with Parent Petroleum Kid’s Night. All kids 11 & under will get FREE admission.
