National Short Track Championships

Tuesday, September 25, 2007 (Loves Park, IL) – The 42nd Annual Chicago International Trucks National Short Track Championships is not just based on one race, its based on the great racing action that the fans will see throughout the upcoming weekend on September 28-30.

It’s a great opportunity for the fans to see the best they read about or watch at their local tracks, come together and race against each other and see who will be the best of the best.

Wednesday, September 19, 2007 (Loves Park, IL) – Ryan Carlson really enjoys racing in his backyard. He also can't wait for the 42nd Annual Chicago International Trucks National Short Track Championships to start on September 28-30th at the Rockford Speedway.

The Loves Park, IL native has enjoyed his past experiences at the famed weekend racing event. In 2005, he captured the Northern Late Model 150-lap feature win along with a second place finish in the ASA Late Model Series 100-lap event and in 2006, won one of the two Big 8 series 75-lap feature events.

Tuesday, September 18, 2007 (Loves Park, IL) – Last year, Jeremy Lepak of Wausau, WI saw a personal dream come true, to win at the National Short Track Championships at the Rockford Speedway. This year, Lepak will return try to repeat what he did last year.

“Oh yeah, we are definitely coming back,” Lepak recently stated in a passing conversation at The Milwaukee Mile. In fact, last year when he won he even stated, “One way or another we will find a race car.”

Thursday, September 13, 2007 (Loves Park, IL) – Rockford Speedway officials have announced that 1984 National Short Track Champion, Al Schill, will return to the historic event on September 28-30th. Schill will be looking for his second NSTC championship in the National Short Track Super Late Model 200-lap event on Sunday afternoon, September 30th.

Wednesday, September 12, 2007 (Loves Park, IL) – In 2006 Matt Merrell and his team called Rockford Speedway to make sure that the National Short Track Championships were still on even though the weather forecast was questionable. That was on Wednesday, when they got word the race was going to happen, Merrell and his team embarked on a twenty plus hour voyage to the northern Illinois facility that helped build names like Mark Martin, Dick Trickle, Rusty Wallace, Jamie McMurray and Clint Bowyer.

Wednesday, August 29, 2007 (Loves Park, IL) – The tradition is still there but it’s a week later. The 42nd Annual Chicago International Trucks National Short Track Championships will feature 12 divisions of racing over three days on its new weekend of September 28-30, 2007.

Special; Rockford, IL - Rockford Speedway will host the National Championships for the Miniature Motorsports Racing Association Cars and the Short Track Championships for the INEX Legend Cars on Saturday and Sunday, October 3rd and 4th.

They will both be part of the 2nd Annual Little Car Nationals. But they won't be alone. Also on the two-day racing schedule are the Formula Indy Racing Association, Dwarf Cars, 440 Modifieds, Junior Motorsports, Allison Legacy Series cars, Rascal Outlaws and Baby Grand Stock Cars.

Rockford, IL- (Spl.) - Rockford Speedway has set Friday, Saturday and Sunday, September 25, 26 and 27, as the dates for the 33rd Annual Winston National Short Track Championships.

The feature event for the traditional post-season stock car 'happening" will be the NASCAR RE-MAX Challenge Series 300 on Sunday the 27th.

All of Rockford's NASCAR Winston Racing Series divisions will take part in the "one great racing weekend" along with many other classes yet to be announced.

September 3, 1998; Rockford, IL - The 300-lap RE/MAX Challenge Series race, the main event of the 33rd Annual Winston National Short Track Championships at Rockford Speedway, has been named the "Mobil Speedpass 300"

Agreement was reached Monday, August 31st, between Rockford Speedway, R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. and Kelley Williamson Mobil on Kelly-Williamson's sponsorship of the September 27th race, the feature race of the annual three-day (Friday, Saturday and Sunday, September 25, 26, 27) post-season stock car racing special.

Special; Rockford, IL - WREX-TV 13 will present the Winston "No Bull" Night of Thrills at Rockford Speedway on Saturday Night, September 19th.

The champions of the NASCAR Roadrunner, Winged Women-On-Wheels, Jammin' Slammer divisions and the Roadrunner Challenge Series will be determined in their final points races of the 1998 season.
