It appears that Mother Nature will finally cooperate with an event for the first time in 2013, and what a great occasion to have the sun shining upon us. Mobil 1 $1 night will feature our first Miller Lite Dollar Beer Night as well as a nice variety of concession items for just a dollar (see list below) all night long. The racing action was intense last week during our 66th season opener and we look to take it up another notch as the Figure 8 joins in the fun when they join the NASCAR Stanley Steemer Late Models, Miller Lite American Short Trackers, RoadRunners and Sam’s Drive-In Double OH! Race. Spectator gates open at 5pm, qualifying at 5:55pm with the first race at 7:07pm. Adult general admission tickets are $12, students ages 12-17 are $8, ages 6-11 are $5 with kids 5 and under free.

For the 66th consecutive season, the Rockford Speedway opening it's gates to racing fans and driver alike. For the second straight year, very cold temperatures greeted both. But with the cold weather in the air, there was plenty of hot racing on the track.

The Pepsi 66th Season Opener featuring the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series will take place tonight at 7:07pm. Don't forget you can see the cars before they battle tonight during the ONYX Bar and Grill Car Show at 11am, located at the corner of IL 173 and IL 251, one mile west of Rockford Speedway. The NASCAR Stanley Steemer Late Models, Bargain Hunter Sportsman, Miller Lite American Short Trackers, RockStar Energy RoadRunners and Sam's Drive-In RoadRunner Drags will all take to the high banks, under the lights for the first time in 2013. As a reminder to our teams, the pit gates will open an hour earlier tonight to allow for addtional practice time

The open practice session for Friday night has been cancelled, WE ARE RACING SATURDAY NIGHT and we will be opening the pit gate an hour earlier tomorrow and start practice an hour earlier, allowing for over two hours of practice time for our Late Models, Sportsman, American Short Trackers and RoadRunners.

Rockford Speedway’s 66th Season Opener takes place this Saturday night when all four Whelen All-American Series divisions battle for the first time in 2013. The NASCAR Stanley Steemer Late Models, Bargain Hunter Sportsman, Miller Lite American Short Trackers and RockStar Energy RoadRunners plus the Sam’s Drive-In RoadRunner Drags will kick off the weekly Saturday night season under the lights. On the high banks of Rockford Speedway, just minutes from his shop. At a place that where he grew up watching racing.

At this place on this day, and while being tested by the "best weekly warriors in the country," Machesney Park's Alex Papini had his finest day in a Late Model, winning the 36th Annual Spring Classic at the Rockford Speedway.

SPRING CLASSIC TODAY
With high's predicted to reach 70 degrees later today, it promises to be a memorable day at Rockford Speedway for the 36th annual Spring Classic. Over 35 Big 8 Late Models were on hand for yesterday's test session in preperation for today's 108 lap feature event. Additionally, Mid-American Stock Car teams as well as the IL Vintage Racing Series took to the track. The pits are filled with sharp looking racecars, ready to do battle this afternoon. Spectator gates will open at 11am with Qualifying slated for 11:30am, racing action begins at 1pm. Adult general admission tickets are $20, students (ages 12-17) are $10, ages 6-11 $5 with kids ages 5 and under admitted Free. Here is a look at today's schedule of events:
