Tractor Town Kid’s Night
The first ‘Kid’s Night’ of 2013 takes place this Saturday night at Rockford Speedway. All children ages 11 and under will be admitted free of charge with the first one thousand kids receiving a free Pepsi Racing Poster. Added to that, Tractor Town will be providing Tractor rides for kids throughout the evening. Then, before the evening’s feature races, all kids will be invited on track for the Nationwide Insurance Candy Scramble. This week’s racing card includes the Stanley Steemer NASCAR Late Models, Bargain Hunter Sportsman, Rockstar Energy Drink RoadRunners and Sam’s Drive-In Stop ‘N Go Race. And for the first time in several years, the Allison Legacy cars will be featured under the “Saturday Night Lights.” Spectator gates open at 5pm, qualifying at 5:55pm with the first race at 7:07pm. Adult general admission tickets are $12, students ages 12-17 are $8, and ages 11 and under are admitted free.

After a slow start on Opening Night seven days ago, and after missing the Fast Dash earlier in the evening, Jerry Gille was in need of pick-me-up.

The three-time Late Model track champion would end up turning a front row starting spot into gold and into an feature win Saturday night on Mobil 1 Night at the Rockford Speedway.

It appears that Mother Nature will finally cooperate with an event for the first time in 2013, and what a great occasion to have the sun shining upon us. Mobil 1 $1 night will feature our first Miller Lite Dollar Beer Night as well as a nice variety of concession items for just a dollar (see list below) all night long. The racing action was intense last week during our 66th season opener and we look to take it up another notch as the Figure 8 joins in the fun when they join the NASCAR Stanley Steemer Late Models, Miller Lite American Short Trackers, RoadRunners and Sam’s Drive-In Double OH! For the 66th consecutive season, the Rockford Speedway opening it's gates to racing fans and driver alike. For the second straight year, very cold temperatures greeted both. But with the cold weather in the air, there was plenty of hot racing on the track.

The Pepsi 66th Season Opener featuring the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series will take place tonight at 7:07pm. Don't forget you can see the cars before they battle tonight during the ONYX Bar and Grill Car Show at 11am, located at the corner of IL 173 and IL 251, one mile west of Rockford Speedway. The NASCAR Stanley Steemer Late Models, Bargain Hunter Sportsman, Miller Lite American Short Trackers, RockStar Energy RoadRunners and Sam's Drive-In RoadRunner Drags will all take to the high banks, under the lights for the first time in 2013. As a reminder to our teams, the pit gates will open an hour earlier tonight to allow for addtional practice time

The open practice session for Friday night has been cancelled, WE ARE RACING SATURDAY NIGHT and we will be opening the pit gate an hour earlier tomorrow and start practice an hour earlier, allowing for over two hours of practice time for our Late Models, Sportsman, American Short Trackers and RoadRunners.

Rockford Speedway’s 66th Season Opener takes place this Saturday night when all four Whelen All-American Series divisions battle for the first time in 2013.
