LOVES PARK, Ill. (Saturday, August 13th, 2011) -- Mother Nature had her way today, raining down on the Rockford area and forcing the cancellation of tonight's racing program at the Rockford Speedway. Heavy cells of precipitation have occupied much of the vicinity throughout the afternoon and more inclement weather is expected this evening.
Racing fans don't have to wait long to whet their appetite for speed as the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series returns to the high banks of the legendary speed plant next Saturday night with a full slate of action. On tap are the Stanley Steemer NASCAR Late Models featuring a tense duel at the top of the standings between rivals Ryan Carlson and two-time division champ Jerry Gille as well as the tumultuous Budweiser American Short Trackers. The Mtn Dew RoadRunners will also be in action as well as the Illini Midgets plus the Sam's Drive-In RoadRunner Challenge featuring the Driver Bike Race.
