For the 25th consecutive year, the ‘Last Blast’ of the racing season happens this weekend at Rockford Speedway. It’s time for the Bahama Bracket Nationals, a one-of-a-kind racing extravaganza taking place this Saturday and Sunday October 15 and 16! The event features cars from both asphalt and dirt tracks competing against one another in “Bracket style” racing. Starting Saturday afternoon at 12:30 PM, nearly 200 drivers will qualify their cars for the event. After qualifying, the field is then split into separate Brackets (four ‘Full-size’ Brackets and two ‘four-cylinder’ Brackets) and at 6 PM, the race is on! You’ll see Late Models, Sportsman, Modifieds, Trucks, Roadrunners, Hornets and more competing against one another, with every car racing for their chance to earn a spot in Sunday’s Championship Features. Drivers that don’t advance through the Qualifying Races and Bermuda Bashes on Saturday night have the chance to ‘Sing For Their Start’ after the races Saturday in the Miller Lite Pavilion or race their way in during Sunday afternoon’s Last Chance Races, which kick things off at Noon. Each ‘full-size’ Bracket contests a 50 Lap feature, while the ‘four cylinder’ Brackets will contest 35 and 25 lap features. If you love racing, you must take in Bahama Bracket Nationals this weekend at Rockford Speedway…and don’t forget to bring a friend!

Overnight Parking for Campers is permitted on Speedway grounds again this year for Bahama Bracket Nationals, with the Overnight Lot opening up Thursday evening at 5 PM. Those that are looking for hotel accommodations for the weekend can get in touch with the Holiday Inn Express in Loves Park or the Garden Hotel and Conference Center in South Beloit, both of which are the ‘Official Lodging Partners of Rockford Speedway.’ When you call to reserve your rooms for Bahama Bracket weekend, please tell them you are in town for the races at Rockford Speedway and want the ‘Rockford Speedway rate.’

Next Sunday afternoon October 23, the 69th season of racing comes to an end at Rockford Speedway, with the 36th running of the Goblin 250 enduro for 4 cylinder cars. The Goblin 250 features over 100 and possibly over 150 cars fighting around the Rockford Speedway for 250 laps, with a 10 minute ‘halfway break’ at Lap 125. The fun begins at 12:40 PM, with the annual Kids Costume Contest preceding the start of the Enduro race at 1 PM. During the ‘halfway break,’ a Kids Candy Scramble will be held on the frontstretch. Then, ten minutes after the Goblin 250, the season comes to a ‘smashing’ conclusion with the running of the ‘Big Swarm’ Demo Derby! To go along with all of that fun, next Sunday afternoon is a ‘Miller Lite Dollar Beer Day.’ Gates open at 11 AM next Sunday morning, so don’t miss your last chance in 2016 to have a little fun at Rockford Speedway!
